The Adventurous Day Tripper: Great Ideas for Memorable Weekends
Have you ever had one of those Saturdays? The ones where sit inside, watching Video hits, moving the washing from the machine to the dryer and deeply sighing as you slowly come to terms with the fact that right outside your door there is a world of sunshine and lollypops patiently waiting – and you, with no other excuse but pure laziness, are letting it get away?
Then there are those weekends where you try to pretend like it’s going to be different. You set your alarm even though you have no train to catch, you place your jogging shoes next to your bed in the evening so you are prepared for a speedy morning jog, and you make so many plans for the two ‘S’ days that the final plan on the list is to hire a PA to manage them all.
But if your anything like most, we all know the way it goes. The alarm sounds and you remember how easy it is to silence once more. The shoes begin to look more like a type of detestable mould creeping from underneath the bed. And that list, well the red wine stains from the night before have made it almost illegible. And so you go to work on Monday morning, answering the friendly queries of “what did you get up to on the weekend?” with yet another shrug and feeble justification.
“Oh I just had a quite one. It was good, I was really looking forward to the chance to do my washing and clean out the ice cascading down my freezer door”.
Who are we fooling?
Let’s not let our weekends become the same as each one before. You don’t have to have a lot of money or jump on an overseas bound plane to have an adventurous and exciting weekend adventure. Here are some great ideas that you can enjoy locally for a weekend to remember:
Paintball: Get your friends together and shoot paint at them! Deck yourself out in Military gear and let loose on a battleground to see just who has the keenest eye of them all.
Laser Skirmish: Think unlimited ammunition, fully army paraphernalia, 15 acres of battlefield and high tech weapons.
Quad Biking: Power through forests, country lands and beaches all on the back of powerful 4 wheeled bikes.
Horse Riding: Spend a day exploring the country side on the back of a four hooved friend. Cross more land and reach exotic places that you could not simply by walking.
Wine Tasting: We all like to think we are wine experts, but just because we drink it doesn’t mean we know all there is to know. Head to the Hunter Valley to sample some of Australia’s finest wines and find out what you have been missing out on all this time.
Taste Testing: Chocolate, Tea, Cocktails – drink and eat like it was your last meal this weekend!

There are many facilities that organise these types of events and activities all throughout Australia; however the problem is sorting out the great ones from the duds. The last thing you want to be doing on a sunny Saturday afternoon is spending your day at dodgy activity supplier wishing you were at home with the TV. That’s why it is a good idea to place your trust in the hands of experts who organise these types of activity weekends for a living. Companies like WeekendBreaks.com.au specialise in planning your weekend, from transport to hotels if needed, and they have been in the game long enough to know where the best activities are and how much you should be paying to enjoy them. You can’t go wrong. So why not gather a group of friends together and try something unique this weekend.
Water cooler conversation will never be the same again!

The Beatles 1 $8.98 Proving yet again their willingness to dice ‘n’ slice their burgeoning legacy into new–if not exactly fresh–product, the Fab Four Minus One have released this single-disc compendium of their No. 1 hits. Though obviously superfluous to the faithful (who may also find themselves quibbling over the precise definition of “No. 1 hit” and the exclusion of seeming contenders like “Please Please Me” an… |

In the U.S., Capitol turned the group’s early LPs, through Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, into compilations, more or less, throwing the hit singles onto the vinyl to augment the album tracks.
