What is the best GPS unit to put in my patrol car?
I want to put a GPS in my patrol car, but I do not know what is the best? I have heard both good and bad on units that connect to the laptop and attaches to the dashboard. I am looking for somthing to give me directions fast and the best route with side streets.
In my experience, Garmin Nuvi products are rock solid reliable, and an intuitive interface to locate addresses. In other words, they claim the house number before the street – a large number of units it does the opposite, for the convenience of programmers (not you). You have to enter the destination city and state each time on each unit, I used, which is not practical for patrol, but I did not see an alternative to that. I found the Magellan reliable too, but have not used as widely. Everything else, I used to hang when I need it most.
