Garmin is not recognized by the computer?
trouble with my eTrex Summit interfacing with my computer through a serial port
Are you using a real serial port or USB to serial converter? Many USB serial converters have problems that prevent them from working with some devices. You will need a driver for the converter or does not connect to anything. Do you know the real address for the serial port? If so, try setting both the generic software that hunts for the port and also try to specify the port to watch. I remember having to Try 2 or 3 times often with my old Vista that uses a serial port. Make sure the GPS is on and fully functional (see map) before you try to connect.
