Garmin or Magellan GPS?
I’d like to buy a gps for my mom for Christmas. I saw that Cnet rated the Magellan Maestro 4250 as one of the top GPS systems for your car. I also spoke with a friend of mine who said you’ve just “gotta get a Garmin.”
So I am slightly stuck-but my main dilemma is I need to get a good, portable system under $200. Any suggestions?
Garmin and Magellan have the same maps and are the best for that, but Garmin has better customer service. Also, where Magellan used to have options for Europe maps, they no longer do, so Garmin is a better choice for expandability. To save a lot of money buy your Garmin on Amazon, usually about $50-100 cheaper then Best Buy.
Here is a link to one you can’t go wrong with. A Garmin Nuvi with text-to-speech for $174 at Amazon. Text to speech is very helpful as it reads out the street names when it talks, and this model also has bluetooth for cell phones, and mp3 player and jpg viewer, and even traffic alerts, what more could you want!
