TIVO – Get a software update …?
I took my Pioneer – TIVO unit with its own DVD recorder / player to be repaired. Pioneer has installed a new hard drive with TIVO version 5.2! (TIVO is not up to version 9 +). What I really, really need is download a newer version of TiVo to my computer and use my CD burner to burn image, pop the cd in my dvd-door unit and voila – installs the new version. Here's why I need this: I have digital phone service, so can not TIVO modem not dial a number (I tried bazillion times). TIVO version 5.2 is so archaic, it does not even have the opportunity to use my router Wireless communication and information programming, updating software, etc. My old hard drive had the current software, if it was not a problem. So, I need to download to burn onto a cd! I heard that downloads as it exists out there in cyberspace, but I searched and searched and can not find. Can someone please help!?! Thank you for coming.
I never Having an updated image that TiVo would work the way you describe. All images TiVo I saw there are images of the entire hard drive TiVo. What I suggest to do is buy a new hard drive, hooking it to your computer and using the online instantcake something to make a hard disk TiVo news and exchange with the reader who is currently in your TiVo unit. The drawback with this you lose all your programs. http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/instantcake.cfm There is a chance that your TiVo may not support newer versions. If you are brave / more technical, there are other utilities, but I recommend instantcake usually because it is simple. I used it when I had a HD die in an old series 1. I do not know how easy it is to enter a pioneer, but the TiVo brand models are just far torx bit driver upgrade.
