The LCD on my handheld GPS fades, what can I do?

I have a Magellan Explorist, and I accidentally left on the dashboard of my car for an hour in the sun. Now when I turn it on, the numbers are still nice and clear, but the gray graduate left. I have black and white, not gray. Any way to solve this problem? Maybe put it in the freezer for an hour? * Laughs *

It is a special lamp inside that provides the backlight of your screen. This is a parent, if the lamp Common fluorescent, which uses an electronic ballast. It flashes at a fairly high rate so that your eye does not see the flash photo or tear. This lamp is used and must be replaced by a qualified technician. I hope this is of some use to you.
