Property map with GPS data?
For a week we work with our new Magellan Explorist 210 rum – and I think we generally know what we do … But we want to create a base map of our property with it (marking roads, houses, pond, elevation) Unit displays all this – we scored POIs and roads are visible – and after we powered it off and on, all data is there. So it must be stored somewhere. We can also access the GPS data from our PC, but there is only one data table, and if we transfer these data in the Mapsend Lite Software, the spread of POIs throughout the United States. How can we use the data to obtain the map we need? Thank you!
The data on your eXplorist is a proprietary format. The best thing you have to do is use a program called GPSBabel (free and open source) to convert POI files and the track to GPX. The GPX format is read by many mapping programs (including Google Earth), so at least your data will be in a format that is recognized by other programs as those created by Magellan. Regarding your point spreads everywhere, do you wait until you had a good position to begin to set points to take and record tracks? Maybe when you were using it as out of the box have not reached a fixed position at the moment. You do not know what else would be causing the problem. Having given an incorrect setting in your GPSr could cause points to show in the wrong place, but rarely across the country.
