Where is the explorer Richard Chancellor buried?
Richard Chancellor sailed for England. He was an explorer navigator. He and was the first to go through the White Sea by the north-west Russia. I need to know where he is buried! THANK YOU!
Richard Chancellor (died 1556) was an English explorer and navigator, the first to enter the White Sea and establish relations with Russia. Chancellor from Bristol, acquired geographical and maritime proficiency from the explorer Sebastian Cabot and the geographer John Dee. Cabot had always been interested to make a trip to Asia across the Arctic, and to this end the King Edward VI charter of an association of English merchants, the Society of Merchants Raiders in 1552-1553, with the Duke of Northumberland as principal patron. They hope not only to discover a passage from the Northeast, but also to find a market for English wool fabrics. Sir Hugh Willoughby was given three ships for research, and Chancellor went second in command. A coastal storm Norwegian separated; Willoughby, with two ships, sailed east and discovered Novaya Zemlya but died with all his men on the coast Lapland. Chancellor, with the ship Edward Bonaventure, found the entrance to the White Sea and anchored in the port of Arkhangelsk. When Tsar Ivan the Terrible heard of the arrival of the chancellor, he immediately invited the guest exotic travel to Moscow for an audience at the royal court. Chancellor has traveled over 600 miles (1000 km) in Moscow through a land of snow and ice. He found Moscow large (much bigger than London) and primitively built, most houses are built of wood. However, the palace of the tsar was very luxurious, like the dinners he offered the chancellor. The Russian Tsar had the pleasure of opening the roads of maritime trade with England and other countries, like Russia does not yet have a connection with the sea Baltic at the time and the entire area was contested by neighboring powers of the Polish-Lithuanian and Swedish empire. In addition, Hanseatic League had a monopoly on trade between Russia and Central and Western Europe. Chancellor was no less optimistic, finding a good market for his English wool, and receiving furs and other Russian products in return. The Tsar gave him letters for England inviting British traders and privileges commercial promise. When Chancellor returned to England in the summer of 1554, King Edward died, and his successor, Mary, had executed the Northumberland for attempting to place Lady Jane Grey on the throne. No stigma attached to the Chancellor, and the Muscovy Company, the association is now called, sent him to the White Sea in 1555. On this trip, he learned what had happened to Willoughby, recovered his papers, and found on the discovery of Novaya Zemlya. Chancellor spent the summer of 1555 on the Tsar, the trade organization, and trying to learn how China could be reached by road from the north. In 1556 Chancellor departed for England, taking with him the first Russian ambassador to his country, Osep Nepeja. They left Archangel in autumn, the park has been sent Willoughby (revival), the Philip and Mary, and Edward Bonadventure. In October / November the fleet tried to pass the winter in Trondheim. The Bona Esperanza sank, the Bona Confidentia seemed into the fjord, but never heard of again, and the Philip and Mary successfully winter in Trondheim and arrived in London next April 18. The Edward did not attempt to enter, instead of reaching the Scottish coast and a shipwreck Pitslago November 7. The Chancellor lost his life, even if sent Russian survivors arrive in London.
