The disaster BP oil leak lasted 85 days. A sticky, toxic, stinking and dumping kept spreading on surface waters. The rooms have been converted into tiny globules of oil dispersants. Another fraction evaporated and kept changing its composition in the effect of high water temperatures and intense sunlight.

Some oil has vanished into thin air, literally. lighter fractions of oil began to evaporate already on the path of the reservoir to the surface of the Gulf. At a pressure of about 9000 psi in the tank, several may still be liquid hydrocarbons. On the surface of the Gulf oil at temperatures approaching 100 degrees F and an atmospheric pressure of only 14.7 psi, the oil of several compounds simply evaporate. You can not see the vapors, you can not feel them. They can be toxic in higher concentrations and a part cleanup crews felt their toxic effects.
There is no available information to know precisely the fraction of oil evaporated. The volume of these small tarballs will be nearly 170 million gallons. With oil having a density less than water, the mass of floating tar archive is more than one trillion pounds.
These archives tar will probably not too much damage to marine life because they are more chemically inert weatherization. They still will not look good on a clean towel or a bronzed body.
Beach communities that depend heavily on tourism will have to prepare for years of everyday Beach maintenance. Vehicles equipped with large vacuum equipment, must remove the top layer of sand, sieves, thermal own, and repayment of recovery, sand virgin.
Load on the winds and water currents, tarballs will sometimes appear in higher concentrations. Protection of beaches arrow will become a more common sight.
