Rebate Garmin

I am looking into buying a gps but I don’t know which one is a better buy.?
There are two gps machines that i have in mind. one of them is from wal-mart(but it is sold in many stores). It is a garmin nuvi 200. It has a 3.5 screen. It is about $150 to $160 or something like that. The second one is from JCPenney. It is regularly 299.99 but on sale for $169.99 with a $40 rebate. It is an Invion GPS. It also has a 3.5 screen. Now i am not asking which one has a better price. I want to know which one is honestly the best one. I would also like to know which one is the best for the price. Thanks. Please give any personal experience that you may have using this device.
I have a garmin and it works well but i have heard from a friend (don’t have to take my word on this) who talked to a cab driver about gps-es that said whether u get a tom-tom or a garmin they all do the same thing and their differences are insignificant so i would strongly urge going with the cheaper one
