Widescreen Portable
2001

Why is this so-called "big screen" display widescreen movies with black bars top and bottom?
Apparently the whole object a big screen – be it a TV screen, computer or PlayStation Portable – is to eliminate the black bars above and bottom of the screen. But in every experience I had with one of these "big screens" crime "black bars" are always visible than ever, as if I was watching a 4:3 standard TV. Can someone explain this paradox?
That's because the film has a format broader than television. Have a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 – 16 units wide by 9 high. Not all movies are shot in this report, however. Many are even wider. For the image to see whole movie in its full width, you end up with black top and bottom because the film is not very high, relative to its width. If you know a movie is 16×9 and I can still see the bars, you may need to adjust the zoom on your TV.
